Melbourne Coastrek is a team trekking challenge on Fri 24 May on the Mornington Peninsula. Teams of 4, will trek either 30km in a loop from Point Nepean; or 60km from Cape Schanck to Point Nepean, getting fit while raising money to restore sight.
Melbourne Coastrek 2019 is a major fundraising event for The Fred Hollows Foundation's sight restoring work.
Volunteers are essential to the success of the event, bringing their organisational skills, smiles, helpfulness and encouragement of the trekkers.
Roles are performed on site at the start, checkpoints or the finish line, as well as route marshal roles anywhere along the 60km route - between Cape Schanck, Rye, Sorrento, Portsea and Point Nepean.
Groups of friends or work mates are able to work together at one site if preferred. You'll have loads of fun in a beautiful location and help The Foundation to restore sight. The event hopes to raise over $1.8m to restore sight in over 25 countries and Australian Indigenous communities.
Training: for all roles will be on the event day at the beginning of your shift.
Reimbursement: all volunteers will receive a small gift to wear on the day, refreshments and a FREE entry to participate in a Coastrek event within 12 mths of the Melbourne event.
Your own transport is necessary to access the location of your shift.
